cartography
Much of my work is spawned by recent horror — the wars, fires, a global pandemic, racial unrest, a horrible president. This particular, Cartography, and related studies ask how to make the world precious again. Through a cultivated language of symbols and cartographic marks, I remapped the earth with systems of care, pathways to healing, spaces for protection, amidst landscapes of roots, seed pods, water, and golden light. Through ink, gouache, and other painting media, I discovered my vision for a freer and healthier planet.

The above is where the spirit transformation takes place. Made of air, wind, breath, stars, and souls- protects all of the systems.
The inhabitants are comprised of light and pure energy, loved and loving, free and healthy, caring for the new life giving systems in place and for each other.
The land masses are where inhabitants can heal from tragedies. The new land is welcoming, stable, and lovingly cared for. Safe places for animals and humans. Sustainable farms and factories. Transit paths keep everyone safe while allowing for freedom to travel.
Birth is hot and dark and violent and mysterious. Protection of humanity.
The waters are fed by the golden light below. Thickened roots support the land masses above. Infused with elements needed for life to thrive.
