War…enough!

When the war on Ukraine began, I was shocked that such a thing could happen. My family is jewish, Ukrainian, Russian, Latvian, and Lithuanian, depending on where the borders. Although no one I know is there, I felt the violence deeply and wanted to put those feelings on paper. I started with one painting but the series kept growing. Through layers of ink, gouache, and gesso, I was able to see the bleakness and brutality of the escalating situation. The energetic lines and roaring blackness reflect my anger, frustration and helplessness. As wars continue in various parts of the globe, so does this series of paintings
